Sleepy Eye starting pitcher, Sean Mathiowetz limited the Athletics to just six hits and one run and his way out of several jams, including a one out bases loaded jam. The Athletics left 10 runners on base in the game.</p> <p style="text-align:justify">The first run of the game was scored in the bottom of the fourth inning when <a href="/players/trevor-jaunich" rel="players-info">Trevor Jaunich</a> led of the inning by taking one for the team with a hit by pitch. Jaunich advanced to second on a successful sacrifice bunt by <a href="/players/jay-stevens" rel="players-info">Jay Stevens</a>. <a href="/players/jesse-berg" rel="players-info">Jesse Berg</a> singled to advance Jaunich to third. Last season the Athletics were eliminated in the first round with a 3-2 loss to the Luverne Redbirds.  <br /> <br /> The Athletics return a strong nucleus of young talent and are flooded with family ties. <a href="/players/trevor-jaunich" rel="players-info">Trevor Jaunich</a> will be making his first appearance in the state tournament for the Athletics. <br /> <br /> Jaunich, the starting shortstop/closer for the Athletics, recently completed his senior season at North Dakota State University where he was a four-year relief pitcher for the Bison. Jaunich rejoined the team in 2015 after spending the last few summers in college wood bat leagues.<br /> <br /> Jaunich is no stranger to baseball in Delano; he joins his cousins Kevin and Adam. <a href="/players/kevin-jaunich" rel="players-info">Kevin Jaunich</a> is the starting centerfielder for the Athletics.
